Celebrating Women in STEM:
Spotlight on Aisha Bowe
Breaking Barriers & Inspiring the Next Generation
Celebrated on February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science highlights the vital role of women in STEM and promotes gender equality in scientific fields. This year marks the 10th anniversary, focusing on the theme: “Unpacking STEM Careers: Her Voice in Science.”
At Adelois Consulting, we are passionate about mentoring and empowering young minds to pursue careers in STEM. As we celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we spotlight Aisha Bowe, a trailblazing aerospace engineer and entrepreneur whose journey continues to inspire young women worldwide.
Who is Aisha Bowe?
Aisha Bowe is a former NASA aerospace engineer and the CEO of STEMBoard, a technology solutions company. She is also the founder of Lingo, an innovative coding kit that teaches students engineering principles through hands-on projects. Her career journey—from being a young girl uncertain about her future to becoming a STEM leader—proves that with determination and support, anything is possible
Overcoming Challenges & Paving the Way
Growing up, Aisha never envisioned a career in science or engineering. She initially struggled with confidence in her academic abilities but later discovered her passion for math and science. Encouraged by mentors, she pursued a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and eventually worked at NASA, where she contributed to air traffic management projects.
Her experience at NASA fueled her desire to create opportunities for others, especially underrepresented minorities in STEM. This led to the founding of STEMBoard, a company that not only provides tech solutions but also empowers students through STEM education initiatives.
Aisha Bowe’s Impact on STEM Education
Aisha’s commitment to bridging the STEM gap has impacted thousands of students, particularly young girls and women. Through her company and outreach programs, she:
– Encourages young girls to explore STEM fields by sharing her journey and breaking stereotypes.
– Provides hands-on STEM learning through Lingo, making technical skills more accessible.
– Mentors future STEM leaders, ensuring that the next generation has guidance and support.
Why Representation Matters
Women like Aisha Bowe are shaping the future of STEM, proving that representation matters. Seeing successful women in science and engineering not only motivates young girls to dream big but also reinforces that they belong in STEM spaces.
At Adelois Consulting, we believe in creating pathways for young women to thrive in STEM. Through our mentorship programs, workshops, and career guidance, we continue to uplift and equip the next generation of women in STEM.
