Our 2025 Spotlight

She is the founder and Executive Director of the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC), an organization committed to building a more inclusive technology ecosystem, with the next generation of women technology creators, entrepreneurs and leaders.

She is an Assistant Professor of Automotive & Mechatronics Engineering at Ontario Tech University and Co-Director of the TTIS & TDVDS Laboratories. She holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Ontario Tech. Her research focuses on transportation, vehicle design, and autonomous vehicle simulation, with a strong emphasis on tire-terrain interaction. She collaborates with Volvo Group Trucks Technology and NSERC to advance mobility innovation.

She is a biochemist at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in 3D-engineered human muscle tissues to study muscular dystrophy, aging, and spaceflight. She earned her PhD in Integrated Muscle Biology from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is a passionate advocate for equity in STEM education. As Acting CEO of #VanguardSTEM, she is dedicated to uplifting women and girls in STEM and driving meaningful change.

Known as "Global Woman," she is a business analyst with a STEM foundation and an award-winning Geology graduate. With 6+ years in operations, data analysis, and process improvement, she led a project that saved ₦250M and reduced paper use by 30%, driving efficiency and sustainability. Beyond her career, she’s a passionate advocate for missions in Africa.

Dr Stephanie Adeyemo is an electrical engineer developing future terahertz detectors highly sensitive to the full polarisation state of a terahertz wave. He has a PhD in Electrical Engineering. Her terahertz detectors will advance technologies in the areas of terahertz imaging, and communication. She is currently a Royal Society Career Development Fellow and a Junior Research Fellow in Electrical Engineering at the Department of Engineering and at Newnham College.

Dr. Olayinka Omowunmi Adewumi is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Ag. Director of Innovation & Technology Management at the University of Lagos. With 20 years in teaching & research, she specializes in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) & engineering systems design. A MIT-Empowering the Teachers Fellow, she was honored with the 2025 AFRETEC Inclusion Champion Award for her dedication to advancing Girls in STEM. She is also a SWE Ambassador & Faculty Advisor for SWE Unilag, championing women in engineering.

Lois Adeyemo is a visionary leader, STEM advocate, and water resources engineer with over nine years of experience. As Founder of Adelois Consulting and Co-Founder of AfriteQ Academy, she is driving STEM education, mentorship, and professional development. With a master’s in environmental engineering, she combines technical expertise with leadership, mentoring 500+ girls into STEM careers. Her impact spans STEM workshops, career coaching, and global outreach initiatives, shaping the future of STEM.
