SiS Win: Meet Faith Okunsanmi — Building Her Path in Energy Engineering
At Sisters in STEM, we believe a STEM degree can be the beginning of many possibilities, not a boundary around what your career should look like. For this SiS Win, we’re celebrating Faith Okunsanmi, a Chemical and Polymer Engineering graduate from Lagos State University who is building an impressive path in energy engineering, leadership, and community impact.
Meet Faith
Faith graduated with a First Class degree and a 4.51/5.00 GPA and earned her COREN induction.
Her interest in energy engineering began with curiosity about how the molecules and processes she studied in the classroom could power real industries. Today, that curiosity has developed into a clear passion for the oil and gas sector, particularly subsurface engineering.
She currently serves her NYSC year at HSI Energies, building on previous experience as a Production Engineering Intern at Heirs Energies, where she gained exposure to flow station operations. She has also worked with KAD Energy, supporting sales operations and market research using tools such as HubSpot CRM.
Engineering Meets Leadership
Faith’s journey is not only defined by technical growth.
As President of the LASU chapter of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), she organized the chapter’s maiden Career Summit, attracting over 300 attendees and more than 10 sponsors.
Her leadership impact was recognized in 2025 when APWEN Lagos awarded her the Most Outstanding Student Leadership Award.
She also serves as Financial Secretary of her SPE student chapter, which received a Most Outstanding Chapter Award in 2025.
Building What Comes Next
Faith is currently a participant in Cohort 5.0 of the TUBE Mentorship Program, continuing to develop her skills and explore opportunities within the energy industry.
Her journey reminds us that a strong STEM career is built through more than academic excellence. It is also shaped by curiosity, practical experience, leadership, community, and the courage to keep exploring.
