About Lois

Hi, I’m Lois. Your big sister in STEM!
And I know what it feels like to be capable but unsure of your next move. Seven years ago, I was in your shoes.
I graduated from university almost 11 years ago with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and went on to earn a Master’s degree shortly after. But somewhere along the journey, I became completely lost. I struggled to get a job and eventually had to move back home to begin practicing.
At the time, I didn’t fully realize that I was a woman in STEM with the potential to become so much more. One thing I did know, however, was that I was ambitious. I knew I had potential, but I was confused and lacked direction. Looking back now, I realize what I truly needed was a Big Sister in STEM. Instead, what I had was a Big Brother in Engineering. Can you imagine?
Today, as a Civil and Environmental Engineer with over 10 years of experience across engineering, mentorship, STEM advocacy, and leadership, I’ve seen how many talented women struggle not because they lack potential, but because they lack guidance, clarity, and support.
That’s why I created Adelois Consulting. Not just as a business, but as a space where women in STEM can feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow confidently in their careers. Think of this as the mentorship, strategy, and big-sister guidance you wish you had earlier.
Founder & CEO
Empowering Innovation, Education, and Sustainability
I am a Civil and Environmental Engineer, STEM mentor, entrepreneur, and advocate passionate about empowering the next generation of girls and women in STEM. With over eight years of experience in environmental engineering, water and wastewater infrastructure, and STEM education, I have dedicated my career to creating meaningful pathways for young people to discover, grow, and thrive in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
I am the Founder of Adelois Consulting, a platform focused on mentorship, career development, and leadership opportunities for women in STEM, and the Co-Founder of AfriteQ Academy, an engineering education initiative designed to inspire children and teenagers through hands-on STEM learning experiences.
I previously served as the STEM in Schools Committee Team Lead for the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, where I led and delivered over 4 STEM outreach projects that empowered more than 500 girls in public schools to explore careers in engineering and technology.
I currently serve as the Projects and Programs Coordinator for the Society of Women Engineers Nigeria, where I support the planning, coordination, and execution of STEM initiatives, mentorship programs, outreach activities, and professional development opportunities for girls and women in engineering and technology. Through my leadership and outreach work across multiple organizations, I have directly impacted and engaged over 1,000 students, young professionals, and aspiring STEM leaders through workshops, mentorship programs, conferences, and educational initiatives.
Beyond my organizational leadership roles, I am actively involved in mentorship and STEM engagement initiatives across Canada and Nigeria. I serve as a mentor and STEM facilitator with the Canadian Association for Girls in Science and have mentored students and young professionals through initiatives connected with University of British Columbia, University of Lagos, and Lagos State University. Through these mentorship opportunities, I support students in career exploration, professional development, confidence building, and navigating pathways into STEM careers.
I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Newcastle University and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Swansea University. I am also a Registered Member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and an active member of several professional organizations, including the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, Nigerian Society of Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and the International Water Association.
I believe that representation matters and that every woman’s story has the power to inspire change. My work is rooted in creating inclusive spaces where women feel seen, valued, and capable of leading innovation in their communities and industries.
Today, I continue to combine my engineering experience with my passion for mentorship and advocacy to lead the next generation of women in STEM, one workshop, one conversation, and one confident step at a time.
