SiS Win: Meet Deborah Olajumoke — Driving Her Future in Mobility

This SiS Win celebrates Deborah Olajumoke, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Lagos State University, Epe Campus, with a growing passion for the automobile industry and the future of sustainable mobility.
Meet Deborah
Deborah’s journey into engineering began with a simple question: How do things work?
Growing up, she was fascinated by machines, technology, and inventions. That curiosity eventually led her to pursue Mechanical Engineering and develop a strong interest in automobiles, particularly how vehicles operate, how they can be improved, and how emerging technologies are changing transportation.
From Curiosity to Hands-On Experience
During her industrial training at the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Deborah gained practical experience in welding, fabrication, machining, and railway coach maintenance.
She is also building hands-on experience with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles while expanding her knowledge of electric vehicle technology, including EV powertrains and vehicle retrofitting.
These experiences are helping her understand both conventional automotive systems and the technologies shaping the next generation of mobility.
Engineering a Cleaner Future
While Deborah continues to learn about traditional vehicles, her long-term interest is strongly connected to cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
She is particularly excited about how the automobile industry is evolving and hopes to contribute to solutions that make future mobility more efficient and sustainable.
Beyond engineering, Deborah values learning, personal growth, and community.
As she begins this next chapter, she is actively seeking opportunities to gain practical experience, strengthen her technical skills, and grow professionally.
Her journey reminds us that sometimes, a career begins with curiosity. What matters is having the courage to keep asking questions, learning, and building toward the future you want to help create.
